I met Captain Brian at Raffles Marina in Singapore on board the MIR whilst helping to pull up wooden screw caps on the boat as part of volunteering for the boats restoration. Brian was warm and full of stories. I was intrigued about Furthur so I popped over to see the boat. At the time crew members Charli and Troy were a part of the Furthur adventure.
After some consideration about what I was doing in Singapore, the opportunity to join the Furthur crew was too good to miss. I booked a flight to Phuket and met Brian in Chalong Bay. This was the beginning of what was to become a wonderful month full of laughter, adventure and making many new friends.
We cruised around Thailand diving in some of the most renowned spots in the world including the Similan islands, Ko Ha, Phi Phi, Hin Daeng…. The list is almost endless. Life on the boat was truly inspiring and I feel fortune was on my side to have had the chance. Brian is full of fun, 16 coming on 60, full of energy and kindness.
I learnt many skills whilst on board which if eager to learn Brian will gladly teach. Life was a much slower pace allowing the time to really see places in paradise.
