Hi Brian –
I live on a small lake (Oneida Lake) in central New York just north of Syracuse. I am an avid boater and do quite a bit of cruising mainly in the northeast with my girlfriend. We’ve traveled as far north as Alex Bay and down to Ithaca, NY. I can’t really venture too far as I worked in an office job for corporate america. My father has lived on his sailboat in St Petersburg for the past 20 years. Anyway, I am also a deadhead, so needless to say, when I got the recent copy of West Marine I was intrigued. Especially seeing that I am a huge fan of trawlers, and some day will live aboard one myself. I think your boat is beautiful.
I’ve seen The Grateful Dead 4 times (including Buffalo 7-4-1989), Rat Dog 7-8 times, The Dead 3 times, Furthur twice (many more coming), Phil & Friends twice. I started my own band called Master Thieves, named after Bob Dylan’s Positively 4th Street. We release our debut album in June 2011.
I don’t know why I am writing you, but when I saw the cover of West Marine, I said I have to learn more about that ship.
“Furthur” is an inspiration to me.
Take it easy,
Chuck Dorgan
